Best Jokes Subreddits (October 2026)

Looking for the right jokes community on Reddit? Here is the lay of the land. We checked the communities Reddit returns for “jokes” and “dadjokes”, kept the public, safe-for-work ones with at least 25,000 members that are still posting, and ranked the 5 that remain by size. Together they have 43.9M members.

How the jokes communities compare

A few giants dominate — r/Jokes, r/dadjokes and r/ComedyCemetery together account for 99% of the combined membership. r/Jokes and r/dadjokes are the two busiest, with roughly 61 and 62 new posts a day. Per member, the liveliest is r/MathJokes: 5.6 posts a day from 61K members — a smaller crowd, but an engaged one. Among the communities we track weekly, r/dadjokes grew fastest recently (+0.02%, +2.1K members since Oct 19). The oldest is r/Jokes, founded in 2008, and every community here is more than five years old — this is a long-established corner of Reddit.

Choosing where to post

r/dadjokes moves fastest, with about 62 new posts a day, so posts there get replies quickly but also slide off the front page within hours. Rule sets vary: of the communities we have rules for, r/dadjokes lists 12, against 4 in r/cleanjokes, so a post that is fine in one can be removed in another.

Before posting, sort a subreddit by “Top” for the past month: it shows in a minute what that community rewards. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
