Choosing where to post

For beginner questions, r/LearnGuitar is the natural first stop — it exists for advice, and roughly 12 new threads a day keep it moving. Asking the same thing in r/Guitar often gets it removed or lost among the 142 daily posts. Jokes and memes have their own home in r/guitarcirclejerk; the serious communities tend to remove them, so keep the two apart.

Before posting, sort a subreddit by “Top” for the past month: it shows in a minute what that community rewards. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
