Best Baking Subreddits (October 2026)

Most baking talk on Reddit happens in a few big places, but the smaller communities are where the specialists are. We checked the communities Reddit returns for “baking” and “bread”, kept the public, safe-for-work ones with at least 25,000 members that are still posting, and ranked the 11 that remain by size. Together they have 6.8M members.

How the baking communities compare

Membership is concentrated: the three largest communities hold 92% of all members on this list, so most of the baking conversation happens in a handful of places. r/Baking is both the biggest and the busiest, with about 117 new posts a day. Per member, the liveliest is r/Bread: 11 posts a day from 33.8K members — a smaller crowd, but an engaged one. Among the communities we track weekly, r/Baking grew fastest recently (+0.19%, +8.9K members since Oct 19). The oldest is r/Baking, founded in 2009, and every community here is more than five years old — this is a long-established corner of Reddit.

Choosing where to post

If you have a question, start in r/AskBaking: it is set up for exactly that, and with about 19 new posts a day there are plenty of people around to answer. Asking the same thing in r/Baking often gets it removed or lost among the 117 daily posts. Rule sets vary: of the communities we have rules for, r/Breadit lists 9, against 4 in r/Baking, so a post that is fine in one can be removed in another.

Big subreddits give a post the widest audience, but they also bury it quickly; the mid-sized communities on this list are usually friendlier for questions and first posts. Always read the rules in the sidebar first — each community is run by its own volunteer moderators. Our guide to searching Reddit explains how to dig through any of these communities, and the subreddit info tool gives you the stats of one we don't list.
